What a Shark’s Eye Observer does.
We appreciate your interest in participating as a Certified Shark’s Eye Observer Volunteer in this innovative angling format. All Observers must be at least 18 years of age and are required to submit a completed application form. Some fishing experience is recommended. Applicants should not be prone to seasickness, and must be physically capable of carrying out the required tasks, while sharing a desire to promote responsible recreational fishing and the conservation of our marine resources. Applicants are urged to review this website familiarize themselves with the event and its format. Observer eligibility will be made based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to information provided on this application form. All applications will be accepted, reviewed and considered by tournament staff. In some cases, further communications may be requested. The Shark’s Eye Tournament reserves the right to approve or deny any applicatant. Upon review, applicants will be contacted by a Tournament Committee Member and notified whether or not they’ve been accepted into the program. Before receiving an event assignment, accepted applicants must successfully attend a free training session held the afternoon of July 11th at the tournament location in Montauk between the hours of 4pm and 6pm. Individuals who successfully attend and complete the training session will be designated a certified ‘Shark’s Eye Observer’. Certain required items will be provided by the Tournament.
